July 9, 2018, Grand Haven, MI – Fundraising for the Reimagine Project, an effort to rebuild the current Imagination Station playground at Mulligan’s Hollow, kicked-off in January of 2018. In just six-months, some of the area’s largest employers have made major contributions to the Reimagine Project in an effort to reach the $500,000 fundraising goal. Combined contributions totaling more than $70,000 have come in from Shape Corp., JSJ Corp., Grand Haven Custom Molding (GHCM), Herman Miller, Westwind Construction and Automatic Spring Products.
According to Katie Appold, Reimagine Project Fundraising Chair, “We are so thankful for the overwhelming support that some of Grand Haven’s largest employers have shown for the Reimagine Project. It shows the strong culture these companies have for investing in the areas where their employees live.”
Reimagine Project chairs are asking community businesses, families and individuals to continue to show their support and make contributions, especially during a crowdfunding effort that runs until July 27. Through a grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), the Reimagine Project was given a 45-day time period to raise $50,000 in order to receive a matching grant. With just 18 days left before the July 27 deadline, $27,478 has been raised.
“We need approximately $23,000 to reach our match goal of $50,000,” said Chris Streng, Reimagine Project Chair. “For those in the community who have been thinking about making a donation, now is the ideal time. The Reimagine Project can only come to fruition with the help of the entire community, at all stages.”
The Reimagine Project committee is asking the public to make a tax-deductible donation before July 27 by visiting: www.patronicity.com/reimagine. Donation and sponsorship opportunities include:
- Donations of $100 towards fence post pickets, which can be embossed with your family or business name. 900 pickets will surround the new Imagination Station.
- Sponsorship of individual components of the new playspace, such as: slides, cargo nets, climbing walls, slides, seesaws, sensory panels, and more.
- Sponsorship at the Lighthouse, Pier, Boardwalk and Marina levels, which provide various acknowledgments ranging from a sponsorship listing on the web site, to a name on the donor board, to public recognition at events and activities.
The fundraising goal of $500,000 will help to create a fully accessible play-space that will replace the current Imagination Station, which is celebrating its 28th year. It has been well-loved and played on by thousands of children throughout the community. The new play-space will be built in October of 2018.
Donations to the new Imagination Station can be made through www.patronicity.com/reimagine, or by check payable to the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation (please note “Reimagine” on your check) at One South Harbor Drive, Grand Haven, MI 49417. Donations are tax-deductible.
